Sunset behind the Kato Mili windmills on Mykonos

Mykonos from Israel

Seasonal direct flights, entry rules, kosher food and Shabbat, and how to plan the days.

  • Direct flights from Tel Aviv & Haifa
  • Visa-free, 90 days
  • Chabad Mykonos since 2025
  • Same clock as Israel

The short answer

In season, direct flights link Mykonos with Tel Aviv (Arkia, Bluebird Airways, Sundor) and Haifa (airHaifa) in about two hours. Israeli citizens enter visa-free for up to 90 days. For kosher food and Shabbat, Chabad of Mykonos has run services and Shabbat meals since 2025, and kosher meals can be ordered in advance. Greece and Israel keep the same clock for most of the year.

Entry

Passports, entry and insurance

No visa needed

Israeli citizens can visit Greece and the rest of the Schengen area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure.

EES at the border

Since 10 April 2026, non-EU visitors register fingerprints and a photo in the EU Entry/Exit System on their first entry. Expect a short extra step at passport control.

ETIAS — not yet

The ETIAS travel authorisation is not operating yet; launch is now expected in 2027. Do not pay sites that offer "ETIAS" today.

Insurance

Buy travel insurance that covers medical evacuation and rental scooters or ATVs. Serious cases on Mykonos are transferred off the island.

Kosher & Shabbat

Kosher food and Shabbat on Mykonos

Narrow whitewashed alley in Chora
Chora is compact — you can walk everywhere on Shabbat
  • Chabad of Mykonos opened in 2025 under Rabbi Uziel Moshe Friedland, with services and Shabbat meals as part of its programme and kosher catering for celebrations (Lubavitch.com, May 2025). Contact Chabad for the address, times and reservations before you travel.
  • Kosher meals: Chabad of Greece can deliver kosher ready meals and products to the islands, including Mykonos — order at least three to five days ahead (chabad.gr).
  • Restaurants: we know of no kosher-certified restaurant on the island. Fish, salads, fruit and vegetarian dishes are everywhere; Athens has a glatt-kosher restaurant if you stop over.
  • Shabbat logistics: stay in or near Chora, where everything is walkable. Buses, taxis and boats run as usual on Saturday, so plan transfers and the Delos boat for other days.

Budget

Money and practical tips

Budget

Mykonos is expensive: about €80–140 a day on a budget and €180–320 mid-range, before flights (Visit Mykonos estimates, Oct 2026). Buses (about €2), souvlaki and free beaches keep costs down.

Time

Greece and Israel are both on UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer; for a few days around the clock changes, they differ by an hour.

ATVs and scooters

A common cause of injuries. Wear a helmet, check your licence is accepted and your insurance covers them, and never ride after drinking.

When

When to go

July and August, when Israeli school holidays coincide with Mykonos's peak, bring the fullest flights, beach clubs and prices. June and September are the sweet spot: warm sea, open venues and better rates. Holiday periods such as Sukkot fill flights quickly, so book early; from November to April most of the island's hotels and beach clubs are closed. See best time to visit.

Common questions
